Food Bridge Pakistan

Food is far more than a basic necessity: it is the foundation for health and a dignified life. Yet, for many migrant families who have come to Islamabad from rural regions like Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Balochistan, access to sufficient and healthy food has become a daily struggle. Living in the slums of Islamabad, they face extremely difficult conditions and are severely impacted by rising inflation and high fuel prices.

Day laborers, widows, orphans, people with disabilities, and low-income domestic workers struggle daily to feed their families and meet their basic needs.

At Warm Hearts, we believe that no one should go hungry. It is from this conviction that the "Food Bridge Pakistan" project was launched – an initiative that provides a monthly food package to particularly vulnerable families, ensuring the sustenance of approximately 7–10 people and thus providing them with a vital foundation for a dignified life.

Items of a food parcel:

- 5 kg rice
- 5 kg sugar
- 400 g tea
- 1 kg glass noodles
- 15 kg flour
- 4 kg lentils (1 kg each of: white chickpeas, red lentils/Masur, chickpeas/Chana, mung lentils/Masur)
- 1 kg salt
- 350 g spices
- 3 kg oil
- 1.5 liters soft drink

These carefully selected staple foods cover the essential needs of a household and allow families to be self-sufficient for a month without additional food expenses.

Our successes

  • Access to basic nutrition is ensured.
Through the distribution of monthly food parcels, 20 particularly vulnerable families (approximately 170-200 people) receive reliable access to basic food supplies. Children, women, and the elderly benefit directly from a more stable food supply.
  •  Noticeable relief and financial stabilization.
For an entire month, the expenses for basic necessities like food are eliminated. This relief allows families to use their limited financial resources more effectively and build up savings for the coming months.
  •  More security, dignity and future prospects.                                                               A month without the constant fear of not having enough to eat and the opportunity to recover at least minimally financially often makes the crucial difference in these circumstances and strengthens the entire community in a sustainable way.

This project goes beyond simply providing food: it offers hope, dignity, and new perspectives. Access to sufficient food not only improves physical health but also gives families the strength and time to focus on work, education, and building a better future.

A regular food supply strengthens the resilience of this community and creates long-term stability. Your support – whether through a donation, sharing, or collaboration – makes such changes possible and helps to sustainably support even more families.
